About
mek-FPS is a free first-person game about a tiny mech, played in the browser. You are piloting it through a drone facility: dark glass floors, neon-edged walls, drones as glowing wire shapes that announce every shot before they take it. Thirty-two levels in four episodes, Doom's bones (keycards, doors, switches, secrets, an exit, kills and secrets and time on the card) on mek's systems (a shield over the hull, guns with magazines, a perk pick between levels) plus a mech's way of moving: a boost and jump jets, so gaps, ledges and shafts are part of every level. No accounts, no downloads, nothing leaves your browser.
Controls
- W A S D move, the mouse looks, click fires, the wheel or 1..8 switch guns
- space jumps; hold it in the air to burn the jets. shift dashes, once in the air too
- E uses a terminal, esc pauses
- A pad works everywhere, menus included: left stick moves, right stick looks (aim assist is in options), R2 fires, A jumps, L2 dashes, start pauses
The manual has the rest: the jets and the boost, the guns, the shield and the hull, the keys and the switches, the secrets and the cards.
Where it came from
mek-FPS is the first-person cousin of mek, a top-down game about the same tiny mech: the same palette, the same synthesised sounds, the same drones taking turns. Everything was made with Claude.
Comfort
The camera never moves on its own: no head bob, no screen shake, no roll. Both are options, off by default. The field of view runs from 70 to 110 degrees, 90 by default, and a render scale option trades sharpness for frame rate on a slow machine.
Saved on this device
Your records per level (best time, kills, secrets), the run in progress (saved at every level start, behind CONTINUE on the title) and the options live in this browser only. Clearing site data resets all of it.
Support
mek-FPS is free. If you enjoy it, you can buy me a coffee.
